About CYT Shows

CYT shows are appropriate for the entire family and are an excellent way to introduce children to the arts!

CYT produces one Broadway-style musical each session. Enrollment in CYT classes provides students (ages 8-18) the opportunity to audition for their Affiliate’s current production. Students not cast in the show are encouraged to participate in other ways. Depending on age and ability, students (and siblings) can participate on the backstage crew, technical team, or the costume and makeup committees.

High School Musical--CYT MainStage Production for ages 12-18
Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life on your stage! Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.
It's the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the "status quo," Troy and Gabriella's alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
**Note to those auditioning.....be practicing your basketball dribbling too as you prepare for auditions! 

Lion King Kids---CYT Lite Production for ages 8-12
Disney's The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world, and now you have the opportunity to produce this one-of-a-kind musical in your community. Bring the African savanna to life on your stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.
The Lion King KIDS features classic songs from the Broadway musical and animated feature film, including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata.” Young performers will also get the chance to learn a wide range of new theatrical skills—such as mask-making and puppetry—encouraging them to explore this beloved story with creativity and pride.

Auditions

Students enrolled in CYT classes are invited to audition for their Affiliate’s current production. Auditions typically consist of a one-minute song performed for the Artistic Team, with the possibility to learn and perform a short dance routine. The audition process may also include a “callback” in which a student may be asked to read for a speaking role in the play. Auditions are a wonderful way for students to gain self-confidence and to show the best of their talents!

Parent Committees

Parents are the backbone of CYT! Without them, CYT would not be the family-oriented organization that it is, in addition to producing high-quality shows! 

CYT is a family and we all work together to produce high-quality, broadway style productions. Each student MUST have an adult/parent sponsor who serves on a committee. Parent/Adult committee options include, but are not limited to: costumes, hair, make-up, props, greenroom, concessions, publicity, sets, set dressing, box office, lighting, sound, make-up, programs, and house management.
