Theater makeup is very different from glamour makeup or everyday makeup. The goal is to emphasize or downplay certain features of the cast members to help them look more like the character they are portraying. And it needs to be able to be seen by the audience. We have the luxury in CYT to have a parent committee specifically for that purpose but there's not always enough time or hands to fully realize the director's vision. And those who continue with community, college, or professional theater programs can fully expect to be doing their specialty makeup looks. In this class, we learn tricks and techniques to create specialty looks like aging, trauma, and ghostly....just to name a few. Students will be able to use the materials in the CYT makeup resources to practice accomplishing these looks on their own. Some individualized materials like foundations, lip color, makeup wipes, and mascara will need to be brought from home.
