Description

Want to learn how to build a scene? Bring a script to life on stage? Help actors develop believable characters?

In this interactive class, you'll learn the fundamentals of directing for the stage and storytelling for a live audience. We'll explore scripts, characters, and ground plans through a variety of hands-on activities designed to help you understand the role of a director. The class will conclude with student-directed scenes that showcase the techniques you've learned.

Connor Worthington

Connor is excited to be teaching with CYT again this fall! Originally from Mechanicsville, VA, Connor graduated from Liberty University in 2016 with a degree in Theatre Arts: Teacher Licensure where he began to work professionally with Alluvion Stage Company. There, he worked on such shows like Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, The Secret Garden, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and performing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. After graduating, Connor taught classes and camps with CharacterWorks in Richmond, VA before stage managing CYT Fredericksburg's production of Willy Wonka in 2017. Shortly after, he began teaching Theatre Arts at both Chancellor Middle School and Chancellor High School where he still works today. Over the past few years, Connor began teaching classes, stage managing & directing with CYT for mastercamp & mainstage productions such as 12 Angry Men, Freaky Friday, Anastasia, Willy Wonka (2025), The Little Mermaid & Into The Woods.
