Description

Auditioning is about more than landing a role. It's about preparation, confidence, storytelling, and learning to trust yourself as a performer.

In this hands-on musical theatre workshop, students will develop essential audition and performance skills through individual coaching, acting exercises, cold readings, scene study, and collaborative performance opportunities.

Students will explore how to select and prepare audition material, make compelling character choices, act through song, connect with scene partners, and respond to direction. Special attention will be given to building confidence, embracing individuality, and developing the skills to enter an audition room feeling prepared and ready to perform.

Throughout the session, students will work both independently and collaboratively, culminating in a short theatrical showcase for family and friends that celebrates their progress and demonstrates the techniques they've learned.

Michael Brennan

Michael Brennan is a professional actor, singer, and proud CYT alum! He performed in 15 CYT productions and participated in more than 20 overall, with experience backstage, in stage management, and in the orchestra. That foundation led him to earn his degree in Theatre Performance from Liberty University and pursue a professional career that has taken him to New York City and stages across the USA and around the globe. CYT was a huge part of Michael’s life, and he’s excited to return as a teacher, bringing what he’s learned through training, auditions, rehearsals, and performances into the classroom.
