Class Description

Come dive into the airwaves of the radio! In this safe, in-person class students will be able to identify and use projection, diction, and vocal variations of rate, pitch, tone, inflection, and emphasis by performing a radio drama. We will learn basic acting skills (such as sensory recall, concentration, breath control, diction, body alignment, control of isolated body parts) to portray characters who interact in improvised and scripted scenes. The big idea is that vocal variety is a major part of creating a believable character. The essential question: How does the way we use our voices help others understand what we are trying to communicate? Join this fun class to find the answer!

Theatre has been a part of my whole life from Kindergarten to present. I grew up in Spotsylvania and moved to Harrisonburg to attend the theatre classes at Blue Ridge Community College. My husband, Patrick and I continued to live in Harrisonburg for several years as I started to teach theatre classes at the community college. I also started directing the Christmas plays at my church. Along with our two kids, we felt led to move to Culpeper to be closer to family. I continued to direct the Christmas plays at our new church and also became involved with a wonderful program called Actors, Models, & Talent for Christ (AMTC). It was an incredible experience and has led me to continue my acting with Kingdom Bound Productions. We are so happy to call Fredericksburg home now and enjoy being apart of the CYT family.
