Description

What makes a performance unforgettable?  It’s not just singing the right notes—it’s making the audience feel something.

This dynamic, performance-driven course is designed for young performers who want to grow as confident, expressive artists—both on their own and as part of a team. This class focuses on the skills that turn a “good” performance into a meaningful one: storytelling, emotional connection, musical understanding, and intentional delivery.

Students will explore how performers communicate with an audience through solo singing and ensemble work.
We’ll ask big questions: What is this song really saying? Who am I speaking to? How do my choices change the audience’s experience? Through guided rehearsal, discussion, and performance, students will learn how to bring authenticity, clarity, and impact to everything they perform.

Along the way, students will strengthen music literacy skills, including reading music, understanding rhythm and melody, and developing confident part-singing in an ensemble. Whether you love being front and center or thrive as part of a group, this course will help you understand how every performer—soloist or ensemble member—plays a vital role in creating something powerful on stage.

For me, this course is especially meaningful. I was once a student in this very program, sitting where you’ll sit now—learning, performing, and discovering the power of storytelling through music. Returning as an instructor is an honor, and my goal is to help students not only improve their skills, but to feel proud, brave, and purposeful when they step onto the stage!.

If you’re ready to move beyond “just singing” and start making an impact, this class is for you.
