Learn how to celebrate the extraordinary voice God has given you, and how to best showcase your strengths by carefully choosing appropriate audition repertoire. Know your vocal range, your style of voice, and how to overcome any less-developed areas so your voice can really shine! Each student will choose and prepare at least one new audition piece to perform for the class.

Bonita Keene

Mrs. Bonita Keene has been an educator with the Stafford County Schools Arts Programs since 2000. In addition to her role as an educator in the school system, she has taught private piano and voice lessons, been a choral festival adjudicator, and appeared as a guest lecturer on topics concerning music education. In addition to her involvement with choral programs, Mrs. Keene has also been very committed to theatre arts in the county, either directing or performing in many crowd-favorite local shows. She has played in pit orchestras as well as directed nearly twenty musicals with SCPS. She also served as a guest director with Stafford Regional Choral Society, and is currently the Administrative Coordinator for Stafford Opera Troupe, a community opera company founded by two of her former students. She is also actively involved in the music program at Temple Baptist Church where she plays piano, sings in the choir and occasionally serves as guest director. She has been the Music Director for CYT’s Aladdin and Singin’ in the Rain, and has also had the privilege to teach several classes on a variety of subjects, from Hamilton to Vocal Health. She is consistently amazed at the talent and work ethic of the CYT students, and always looks forward to any opportunity to work with the CYT family. Mrs. Keene is a lifelong resident of Stafford County, where she resides with her husband, Greg. She has two adult children, Corinn Fulton, married to Sam Fulton, and Evan Keene. Both also teach in Stafford County.
