Have you ever wondered what goes into costuming a show? Have you ever wanted to dive into the costume racks and put together a character's perfect costume? Well now you can! During this class, you will learn about costuming shows based on the director's vision, what time period is appropriate, developing a vision board for your cast, and adding just the right amount of accesories to set off the piece, in order to build the perfect costume! This class will work in conjunction with the Heroes and Villains class. Each student in the costuming class will be paired up with a student in the Heroes and Villians class to plan and build their costumes for the fall showcase. Costumes will either be a complete build from scratch or pulling existing pieces off the rack and embellishing to fit the characters vision. Some knowledge of sewing, reading a pattern and doing alterations is encouraged, but not required. There may be additional expenses if you decide to build a costume from scratch, as you may need to buy a pattern, material, snaps, buttons, etc. Costumes built from scratch will become the property of the student, costumes and accessories pulled from the racks will need to be returned to the studio after the showcase.
