Description

If you're looking to develop your acting skills, you may be wondering what character development is and how to create a believable character. Additionally, you might be asking yourself, "What is Stage Right? Where's Downstage?" Fortunately, we've got you covered! In this class, you'll learn the fundamentals of acting, including how to build a strong character using the five senses of sound, sight, taste, touch, and smell. You'll also have the opportunity to play games to familiarize yourself with stage directions and various types of acting and theatre. At the conclusion of the course, you'll even have the chance to perform a short play for the showcase!

Teacher:

Anna Hansen

Anna Hansen first worked at CYT in 2006 as a theatre teacher and backstage worker. Then she moved to Harrisonburg to study theatre at Blue Ridge Community College. She stage managed shows such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, and Barefoot in the Park. Her favorite roles during that time were Percy Felts from DuPont Mississippi and Margaret Brennan from The Marriage of Bette and Boo. Since college, she has directed Christmas plays at her church and organized summer theatre camps. She studied acting and modeling in 2014 with Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ (AMTC) in New York, taking classes from casting directors and acting coaches. After that incredible experience, she found a home at Kingdom Bound Productions. She played Susan in Mirror Woman at the Hippodrome Theatre in Maryland and has appeared in a couple of their pilot episodes. Upon moving back to Spotsylvania in 2017, she returned to teach classes, stage-manage, and direct at CYT.
