DETAILS:
In this class students will make a full-face mold & cast and will create several masks that will fit their faces perfectly. Different mask making techniques will be explored, and may include plaster, paper mâché, foam and leather. Half and full-face masks will be made and decorated. This will be an extremely messy class: students should be prepared to get their hands (and faces) gooey! Artistic ability is not required; willingness to help other classmates and be a willing participant is far more important. Students will also learn about the history of masks as related to theater and other cultures. Students will keep masks, face-mold, and face-cast after the last class. Class may not be appropriate for claustrophobic persons due to the nature of the face-mold process.
